Watch The Last of Us panel from this year’s Comic-Con and learn the finer details to one of the most anticipated games of 2013.
Don’t feel too glum about missing San Diego Comic-Con 2012. Heck, even yours truly was left out of the festivities like a puppy in the rain, never to experience the great magnitude of awesomeness that is possibly one of the ultimate gatherings for all things remotely geeky this side of the planet.
*Sigh* …Well, dang, now I’ve done it. I’ve made us all sad. Sorry, guys.
Ah-ha! But I just know something that should cheer us up, especially if like me, you’re begging for anything The Last of Us-related, the gnarly (yes, I used gnarly, deal with it) post-apocalyptic survival game from the makers of the Uncharted series, Naughty Dog studios. You see, during Comic-Con 2012, the developer hosted a lengthy panel about the PlayStation 3 exclusive with loads of of interesting details.
The panel was comprised of the directorial staff for The Last of Us, video creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley, along with the voice cast for the game too, actors Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and W. Earl Brown. Baker and Johnson play the main roles of drifter Joel, and his teenage companion, Elle, while Brown’s character, who gets introduced during the panel, is a ornery old man named Bill.
If you’re looking for that all too important quality of gameplay though, you won’t be finding much of that here. The Last of Us panel at Comic-Con mainly dealt with the narrative of the game, and the only clip Naughty Dog managed to show was devoid of actual game footage. Basically, just a simple cut-scene. Not “simple” in a bad way either, because that, much like anything the developer produces, is guaranteed to be good.
Honestly, aside from this year’s E3, we haven’t seen a lot of gameplay footage from The Last Us. Likely a deliberate choice from Naughty Dog after they received a dump truck of complaints from showing too much of Uncharted 3 before its launch. Or wait… was that Uncharted 2? You know, with all these Internet geek-rage dust-ups that happen so often, I’ve lost track of what’s what. Silly goose me.
Anyway folks, enough of my jibber-jabber. Let’s get on with the show; The Last of Us Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2012. This video here is a condensed 10 minute version of the panel, but it does a good job of getting to the important chunks.
