The long wait for Half-Life is finally over, as Valve just announced the VR game Half-Life: Alyx. The new game is Valve’s entry into the virtual reality space, and is being touted as its flagship VR title. The company unleashed screenshots of the game, the trailer, and many intricate details.
Half-Life Alyx will support all PC VR headsets and can be a blessing to those who cannot afford expensive VR headsets. Most people had been waiting for Half-Life 3 for more than 12 years now. The development took frustratingly long for fans, and many message boards constantly expressed their disappointments about the development bottlenecks.
What is the game all about?
The game revolves around Alyx Vance and her father Eli. The duo fight against alien Combine powers who have set out to destroy the planet. The story can also be understood as something that take place before Half-Life 2. Players will get to play Alyx Vance and save the world from aliens. There are many interesting puzzles, fights and twists in plot for those who are looking for excitement. The screenshots look futuristic and apocalyptic at the same time.
The game seems to be Valve’s attempt to upstage rivals who have already caught up on the VR party. Although late to the party, Valve has its technology, plot and open platforms on its side. Those who own Index can expect to get it for free. Plus, they will also have access to bonus content such as gun skins. The game will automatically appear in Steam library. However, others will have to spend $60 on the game.
VR game Half-Life Alyx is accessible for everyone
In short, Half-Life: Alyx may not be the Half-Life 3 that fans expected. Yet, it is a promising game that will definitely create a fan following of its own, especially among those who are into VR headsets. Those who do not have consoles and would like to try a good PC game can just purchase Half-Life: Alyx, which only requires a VR headset. There are many manufacturers that offer affordable VR headsets, and many of these are just as good as any other.
