We have all been witness to the rising number of video games and the effects it has on our society. Games which become popular beyond words go on to inspire people into expressing their affection for the game in many ways. We find a lot of merchandise being produced based on the game characters. They can be spotted on apparels, as toys, eatables, parties, etc. One such gaming fan is Shanghai based Jian Guo.
The works of Jian Guo would sure give you the impression that he is mighty fond of the game World of Warcraft (WoW). He has come up with an entire series of stained glass-style illustrations of various scenes from the game. The fact that he has managed to create these illustrations is amazing but what is more magnificent is the manner in which he has executed it. Every little detail in each of the pieces is well depicted leaving the viewer go “Wow” over these WoW illustrations. The scenes that he has chosen for his art work include the Ancient Wars, Blood Sunset, Fall of Arthas, Journey of Faith and The Cataclysm and every illustration has a story to tell in it self.
WoW was developed by Blizzard Entertainment, an American video game developing organization. It is a part of the Warcraft series that was initiated way back in 1994 with WoW being the fourth in the series. It was released in November 2004 and was set in the Warcraft world of Azeroth. WoW falls under the MMORPG genre of games and since it is played all over the world it is sure to have a fan following across borders. As is the case with all MMORPG games the game involves a large number of people who interact with each other in a virtual world.
The game has received many positive reviews and is one of the most popular games today. Similarly Jian Guo’s illustrations are all set to attract huge amount of accolades. Adopting a stained glass style for these illustrations was not an easy idea and as admitted by him, this style of art was pretty new to him. Yet he went ahead with his decision and what resulted were terrific pieces of art of unmatched quality. Folks at Blizzard Entertainment are definitely going to be proud to have a fan like him.
Prints of these remarkable pieces are also available for purchase and each of them can be checked out at breathing2004.deviantart.com.
