Who said that wearables should be exclusive to humans? Wüf is a smart collar for dogs that only enables you to talk to your pooch from a distance, but also train him in a humane manner when you’re around.
Since our pets won’t be around forever, it’s good to stay in touch with them as much as possible, even if you’re in a different city or country when doing that. There are plenty of pet surveillance cameras out there, and even smart food bowls, but in the wearables department there aren’t that many options. Enter Wüf, which according to its eponymous developers, is the smartest dog collar in the world. If communication with your pup and training are at the top of your list, as far as your pet’s wellbeing is concerned, then this dog wearable might represent the solution to your problems.
Add to that the fact that Wüf also includes a GPS tracker and you really have a great gadget. This means that if your dog has made a habit out of wandering around, you’ll know at all times where he is. Losing a dog is a tragedy, but Wüf puts an end to all that. To do so, it relies a SIM card that has data enabled, so that you can get notifications on your smartphone using the companion app.
Wüf is waterproof and shockproof, but most importantly, it’s biteproof. When you have several dogs and they enjoy spending most of the day at each other’s throat, you need to make sure that the smart collar doesn’t get damaged in the process.
Battery life shouldn’t be an issue, as the current iteration of the smart collar lasts for 5 days. As long as you remember to charge it periodically, you and your doggy should be fine.
To make the jump from a prototype to mass production, Wüf needs to raise $50,000 Kickstarter in the next 19 days. At the time of writing, backers had pledged almost half of the funding goal, and Kicktraq estimates that this will be a success, surpassing the goal by 24%. Pledge $99 or more to get your Wüf smart collar in November 2015. This is great even if you don’t own a dog now, but you’re planning to get one in the near future.
