This 80s Cake is like a Blast from the Past

Most people who are old enough to remember the 80’s will agree that it was one incredible decade, for the world saw a lot of revolutionary changes then, and this 80’s cake has managed to bundle a whole decade into one neat package with only fun stuff.

As you can see, there are tons of layers, starting with the Pacman Arcade cake layer right at the bottom. Now you can never say too much about Pacman, it was a game that defined a generation, and it still continues to be one of the most popular games of all time. Moving on up, there is the Rubik’s Cube cake part, which is one of the most popular puzzles ever. On top of this Rubik’s Cube is a bunch of video cassettes, which are again a tribute to the generation. These are not just any video tapes, but specifically one each of Michael Jackson, Cindy Lauper and the Bangles, and all three tapes represent their biggest selling albums: Thriller, She’s So Unusual and Different Light respectively. The cake by Durham Friedman is topped by Indiana Jones being chased by a boulder (it took me a while to figure that out). Of course, who could ignore the Smurfs, represented by Smurfette perched on the Pacman game and Azrael and Gargamel on the bottom.

On the whole, it is a superb cake that has managed to capture the essence of the 80s perfectly.
