Thanks to Game Informer and the game’s own stellar box art, the next Assassin’s Creed game will take place during the American Revolution. Get excite!
What’s it going to be like stealthily eliminating British Redcoats, getting command orders from General George Washington, or being aided by one of Benjamin Franklin’s inventions?
These are just some of the thoughts I had – along with others – once it was confirmed through both Game Informer, and Ubisoft’s reveal of the box art, that Assassin’s Creed 3 will be taking place during the American Revolution.
There’s been tons of speculation leading up to this public disclosure that an American Revolution setting would be the central theme to the third installment of the popular action-adventure game, and boy, where those suspicions right. Incredibly pictured in the two images are many depictions of Old Glory, the Continental Army about to go full “This is Sparta” on British forces, and specifically in the Game Informer magazine cover (there’s actually two separate covers that will be on newsstands), what seems to be General Washington on horseback.
As you would expect with something so far off from being released – Assassin’s Creed 3 doesn’t hit retailers until October 30 – there’s only so much about the game we know about. Maybe we could infer from the unidentified protagonist donning the series typical hooded get-up, that our weapons might include a bow, a single shot handgun, and a tomahawk with a familiar design, almost similar to that of the Assassin’s Creed logo.
Everything else though is a huge unknown. Like, exactly how will this entry be connected to its previous outings? Who is the period avatar we’ll be playing as this time around, and how are the Knights Templar involved with one of the most important historical events for the United States? (Yes I realize I ask too many questions. I have to or my head explodes, okay.)
Game Informer will be throwing out new information about Assassin’s Creed 3 in the following days – in fact they’ll be having a 13-page megaton spread in the April edition – but we here at Walyou will be mighty sure to keep you in the loop, not just Assassin’s Creed either. We’ve got the latest gaming scoops on Microsoft’s next Xbox and rumored specs for the PlayStation 4.
