At first there was Donna, the runaway bride, then there were Amelia and Rory Pond, and now it was the turn of Laurie and Justin to have a wedding in the Doctor Who universe.
What’s that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a TARDIS! Davey Morgan, the couple’s photographer, did a great job when editing these photographies, and the couple of lovebirds Whovians must have been very happy. After all, not everybody gets the chance to get a wedding that has the theme of their favorite TV series. This is not the first time Laurie and Justin pose as The Doctor and his companion, as their engagement photos had a similar theme. In fact, the two portrayed Rose Tyler and the 10th Doctor, and since all worked well then, they decided to do a similar thing for their wedding.
The setting abounded with roses (there’s a reference to Rose, the first companion from the Nu-Who) and angel wings (this one’s a reference to the weeping angels, who are some of the most terrifying villains from the series), but there’s one thing that must have caught the eyes of everyone present at the wedding: the gorgeous wedding ring that featured so many beautiful diamonds, besides have an incredible overall design.
Davey Morgan also took pictures of Laurie and Justin sitting by the TARDIS. As cited on the photographer’s website, “Laurie’s dad, Dennis, built the TARDIS from scratch! He modeled it after the 10th doctor’s TARDIS. It looked so amazing! Dennis designed it so well that the lights work and everything!” This certainly wasn’t an easy job, but when your daughter gets married, you’d do anything to make her wedding day perfect.
The newly weds and their close ones had to sit in front of the TARDIS. Whether they wanted or not, some of the most important female relatives of the couple had to wear blue, even though that shade is a tad lighter than the one of the TARDIS.
The wedding cake also featured the Doctor and his time machine. I only wonder why doesn’t Matt Smith’s Doctor get any love? I guess we’ll have to see how the next one is. Anyway, I’m sure that there will be plenty of Doctor Who-themed weddings from now on, this particular one is a bit special, since it took place on the year of the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.
