It gets boring, trying to create art on the usual canvas with the regular oil paints, hoping you’ll become like on of the great painters like Monet, Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock or Edvard Munch. Recreating famous works of art on toast? Sounds a lot more interesting.
Norwegian artist Ida Skivenes uses his Instagram page to spread the Art Toast project to the world, recreating famous paintings like ‘The Scream’ by Munch or ‘Sunflowers’ by Vincent Van Gogh with food, carefully placed on a simple piece of toast. The result, you might be surprised, is sometimes better than the classic original, as long as you don’t take art too seriously.
Skivens goes beyond “copying” famous paintings by the likes of Frida and others; he also gives his own interpreatation to famous pop culture characters like Charlie Brown or the Little Mermaid.
