Giant LEGO Barrel Plays Star Wars Theme

After reading the title, you’re probably thinking “say WHAT?”. No mistake there, this is a LEGO Barrel that plays the Star Wars theme indeed.

This barrel over here is decorated with many scenes from the Star Wars saga recreated in little LEGO pieces from the official collection. It features a crank that when used, moves a set of metal fingers that play a sequence of keys which in turn perform the Star Wars opening theme. Geek overdose, right?

The creators explain what is this all about: “We took the iconic Star Wars Main Theme, rearranged it and translated it into a matrix – the constrution [sic] blueprint for the organ. Then, we took the four most famous Star Wars worlds – Hoth, Tatooine, Endor and the Death Star – and built them on to the barrel, accordingly to the musical composition. When the organ is turned, the bricks touch little mechanical sensors – which strike the keys of a keyboard and play the Star Wars Main Theme.”

As of now, this giant organ/barrel is touring between German cities celebrating the re-release of The Phantom Menace, this time in 3-D. So, we guess something good DID come out of that, after all. Also, we couldn’t finish this article without linking our readers to an actual video of the theme playing. Well, here you go!
