Red Sand is a fan-made movie prequel to the Mass Effect trilogy, starring the voice actor who played Commander Shepard in the video games series.
Mass Effect fans rejoice: a group of fans have gotten together and are making a fan-film based in the same universe as the acclaimed video game series, billing itself as a prequel to the events in the game series. The highlight of the show is that voice-actor Mark Meer, who lent his talents to the voice of Shepard in the games, will be cast in the starring role.
Our source,Kotaku, found this lead. I’ll have to say, despite the somewhat cheesy-looking body armor and prop weapon, it looks like it might have the potential to amaze.
Check out the teaser video below and see for yourself.
It’s honestly kind of disorientating hearing Shepard’s voice attached to a completely different face that the one we’re used to.
What we know about the story, is that it focuses on a certain Colonel Jon Grissom, an alliance soldier stationed on Mars tasked with protecting Prothean relics. The story takes place about 35 years before the events of the first game. As per the plot specifics, we don’t have too many details as this point. Considering that we’ve seen some really decent fan-films for other franchises lately, I’m sure the writers will come up with something respectable.
