A videogame tutorial level, that for the first time ever, has to be seen because it’s so amazing in motion.
If there ever was an award for best videogame tutorial of 2013, my nomination would go to Konami’s Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Okay, okay. So this is solely based off the few minutes of new footage I saw from the official E3 2012 demo of the game, but in my mind it was enough to confirm its true greatness.
Believe me, I saw amazing things in that video. Things I thought never possible with a sword. And yet, there was Raiden, the titular cyber-ninja protagonist for early 2013 action-game, slicing-and-dicing in such dramatic style. It was almost like watching Vincent Van Gogh using his paintbrush to create an incredible work of art.
Except in Revengeance, it was a rather long, steel-edged blade that could cut – both precisely and full of rage, as you’ll soon see – anything in its sight, be it robot henchman, beaten-down truck, watermelon, or in one instance, the dress of a pretty lady. Oh Raiden, you sly dog, you.
Bear witness, my friends. The Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance tutorial video might only come in at a timid three minutes, but every second of that is unbelievable. Trust me.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which I should remind you is a collaboration between Kojima Productions, of Metal Gear fame, and Platinum Games Inc., producers of the stellar 2010’s Bayonetta and Vanquish, won’t be out until next year. Sucks, I know.
Hey though, time flies when you’re having fun. And what better fun is there, in my humble opinion, but to check out what’s on tap here on Walyou. For example, taking a look at this Doctor Who TARDIS leg tattoo or these futuristic solar trees.
