The last two Transformers films, Revenge of the fallen and Dark of the Moon, received terrible scores across the board, especially when compared with the film that relaunched the franchise in 2007. But… they made too much money not to keep making more of them.
So, instead of trying to possibly do a reboot with a different director who actually cares a bit about plot, depth, acting and other similar things, Michael Bay will be the one who steers the ship that comes out in 2014, and focusing mostly on redesigns to what the Autobots and Decepticons will transform into.
The New Optimus Prime
A new look, but it’s still a long-nose cab, which means the purists, preferring to see him in a flat-nose look, will simply have to keep watching the old cartoons or play with their toys.
The New Bumblebee
This ’67 Camaro will be mostly black, which means having an edgier look, at least in car-form, than the one in the first three films.
The New Hound
This Hound is “one of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles from Oshkosh Defense,” according to Michael Bay’s website. Some are hoping that just like in the animated series, Hound will have something to do with the appearance of the Dinobots.
Sideswipe, Slingshot or Tracks?
This is the make and model that Sideswipe became in 2009’s Revenge of the Fallen and 2011’s Dark of the Moon, but there are rumors that it will be a character named Slingshot, who was the smallest and weakest Aerialbot. Tracks was a fancy Chevy Corvette in the first animated series, although he was an Autobot and blue.
Is this Drift or Hot Rod?
Some think this is going to be Drift, who was a part of the G1 setup as a former Decepticon called Deadlock changing sides, but some are pondering whether Hot Rod, who in the animated movie become the leader of the Autobots Rodimus Prime, might be this Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse.
