According to Sony, the PS4 has sold over 5.3 million units as of February 8, and that’s even before sale of the console has begun in Japan.
Andrew House, President and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, stated that I am thrilled that so many customers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as the best place to play throughout and beyond the holiday season.
According to data from NPD Group, the PS4 was the top-selling console in the United States last month, with Sony also stating that they have sold almost double when compared with the nearest next-gen competitor which just happens to be Microsoft’s Xbox One. Microsoft hasn’t revealed new sales figures since the end of 2013, when they claimed more than 3 million units were sold.
Next month is going to be big for both consoles, as the first-person shooter Titanfall for Xbox One and action game inFamous: Second Son for PS4 come out, with other high profile video games launching as well.
