Mom’s cake will always hold a special place in everyone’s hearts. But when your mom can bake a cake and also be outstandingly creative, what you get is a yummy cake resembling things you like. And that’s how inventions in the kitchen happen. This time, it was the love for Star Wars that became transformed into a Death Star cake.
This shiny, delicious coconut cake, which has Star Wars written all over it, was a brain child of Lisa Smiley – a homemaker, photographer and, as she puts it, a sweet maker, who decided to bake a Death Star cake for her Star Wars loving son’s 9th birthday. As intriguing as it may sound, the shiny look of the cake was achieved with a mix of corn syrup and vodka while the Star Wars logo was done with a fondant. A velvet base also covered with fondant made it drool worthy even for someone who doesn’t have a sweet tooth.
Knowing her son’s love for the epic, a Star Wars sleepover was planned and the “icing on the cake” was this Star Wars cake, a perfect way to celebrate a birthday for a true Star Wars fan. If this innovative idea wasn’t enough to make all the sweet, crazy people go speechless, the revelation of using Corn flour with Vodka definitely took the cake. Quite literally!
