Exorcist Amigurumi Crocheted Scene
Cute mixes with frightening with this Exorcist amigurumi crocheted scene. Normally amigurami figures are usually cute figures that are either knitted or crocheted. Recently they started selling voodoo dolls that are amigurami figures in capsule dispensers.
Even those voodoo dolls, which are meant to be slightly creepy, have more cuteness in them than this particular doll does. This isn’t necessarily a drawback especially since the movie is meant to be grotesque. The fear in this movie works not because people are afraid to become possessed by the devil, but the idea of having something controlling your body- the idea of not being in control of your own body- is a common fear. Not only that it’s a fear that can be incredibly intense.
The image of projectile is not pleasant, mostly because all of us have experienced it and know how it feels like. There are two connotations in throwing up. The first is that it is a sign that you are unwell, this is the first thing that comes to people’s mind when they are throwing up, but it is also a way that your body is cleansing itself out. That is the same concept that is going on in this scene, and is reinforced with the amigurami. There is a duality that comes with the “cuteness” of the dolls and the creepiness of the scene. It was definitely clever how the creator of the dolls tried to recreate the feeling of the movie, especially when using a medium that doesn’t inherently make that possible.
The scene is composed of three objects, but they are all connected to each other in some way. The priest is connected to the possessed girl by the ejection of contents from her mouth, and the girl herself is attached directly to the bed. It is definitely an interesting stuffed piece to have.
