Sometimes, bad movies are so bad that they become popular and later on get the cult classic status. An important addition to any reputable B-Movie, be it a horror film, psych-drama or simply one of those sleazy crappy ones from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, is having a ridiciolous poster, making matters much much worse.
99 Women (1969)
A sleazy prison movie about a new inmate Marie, that arrives at an island prison in the women’s sector and receives the number 99. The inmates are controlled by the sadistic lesbian warden Thelma Diaz and Governor Santos and submitted to torture, rape and lesbianism. Marie is disappointed with the new warden and decides to escape with two other inmates. But their runaway scheme fails and the three women are chased not only by the guards, but also by male prisoners that have not seen women for many years. One of the reviews sums up it’s worthability – Jesus Franco is one of the few directors in the world who could take a much-maligned genre like the women-in-prison film and make it even sleazier.
Abby (1974)
A blaxploitation version of the Exorcist, pretty much with an African twist, Abby is a film about a marriage counselor who becomes possessed by a Demon of Sexuality, when her father in law, an Exorcist, freed it while in Africa. He returns home, along with his son and a policeman to perform an African Exorcism on her.
The Abductors (1972)
A movie that surely would get a NC-17 rating today, it’s about a female “super sexy” spy Ginger going undercover to put an end to a slavery ring, kidnapping Cheerleaders and models. It’s as bad and sleazy as it sounds.
The Abominable Dr. Phibes
Now considered a cult classic, Dr. Phibes is the story of Anton Phibes, a horribly disfigured genius supposedly killed in a car crash, is convinced that his beloved wife died a victim of incompetent doctors, and begins elaborate plans to kill them. Inspector Trout suspects Phibes, but finds little support from Scotland Yard. Eventually Dr. Vesalius, head of the team of doctors that operated on Phibes’s wife, begins to believe Trout and aids him in the hunt for Phibes.
The Abominable Snowman (1957)
Man vs nature, and realizing the Yetis are intelligent creatures waiting to take over the world from humanity one day.
13 Ghosts
A family inherits what proves to be a haunted house, but a special pair of goggles allows them to see their ghostly tormentors.
Adam and Eve (1956)
A trashy film without actual nudity, featuring former miss universe Christiane Martel from France. She later married a Mexican politician, that banned all her films from exhibition, even in television at the time.
The Adventures of Lucky Pierre (1961)
A man imagines that everybody he sees is naked. He goes to see a psychiatrist to see if he can be cured. It’s actually much worse than it sounds.
Adventures of a Plumbers Mate
A cheap knock off of the popular “confessions of” sex comedies in the 1970’s, AOAPM is about the adventures of a plumber’s assistant who gets laid a lot, although an actual plot involving loan sharks and a debt he’s trying to avoid paying.
Revenge (Terror Under the House)
Joan Collins (a very young one) stars in a movie about a family trying to act some torturous vigilante justice on the man who raped and murdered their daughter.
