Look out world, Metal Gear Solid 5 is in the works, and from the sound of things, it’s going to be interesting.
For those of you who don’t know, Metal Gear Solid is a stealth action game for the Playstation platform. As a sequel to Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear games, players navigate Solid Snake, a soldier on a mission to neutralize FOXHOUND, a terrorist group with a penchant for nuclear weapons and abduction.
For those who have been keeping up with this series, you’ll recall that things came to a pretty definitive end for Solid Snake, so chances are this game will be a prequel. Again. Not that I’m complaining, but it will be interesting to see who will be the focus as Big Boss is the current spokesperson (spokescharacter?) on the development ads.
Oh, did I forget to mention that Big Boss wants YOU as part of the developer team? Now, before you start weeping like a little girl and blubbering about how little experience you have, keep in mind that 20-year-old guitarist Umar Arar has been hired to work on the music. Now, if you are asking yourself “who the hell is Umar Arar?” then you and I are on the same page. It looks like there is a desire for fresh, new talent, so why not you?
Excuse me, but are you complaining about having to work on THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME?!? Sorry, about that. I’m a little nerdy about this game, and am thinking that Arar can’t be a true fan if he is insinuating that A) there is any sort of downside to working on this game and B) working out of California and Japan isn’t totally awesome. Because it is.
Before you start calling me a liar and sending me hate mail, allow me to prove myself to you:
What now? The big question for gamers, besides “when is the release date“, is whether or not Kojima will be playing an active role in the creation of this game. He’s voiced his intentions to pass on the creative reigns before, but he seems less interested in being involved in the process at all at this point. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
