Easy Nokia codes

Cell phones have become an extremely popular product these days. Their portability, combined with current connectivity, makes them the perfect device for the next step of Internet adoption. Some ambitious projects such as the iPhone, Ooma and Nokia’s Mosh are indicators that the industry is innovating, and many others are focusing exclusively on developing applications for our cell phones.

Instead of rehashing all this information in the blog, I looked for a different angle. I have included a few simple Nokia codes that I found useful in the past and perhaps some of you will as well.

  • *#92702689# provides you with warranty information, such as: serial number, total amount of time used, and dates of production, purchase, and last repair
  • *#7780# restores the default factory settings
  • *#7370# will format the software of your phone – A new start
  • *#67705646# may get rid of the annoying operator logo

With so many codes out there, are there any others that you have found useful?

How to install a TV Tuner on original Sony PSP

It is so fascinating to watch people like this at work. This video is a little long, but for those interested in such things, it is beautiful. This individual shows how to take the original Sony PSP completely apart and then installs a TV Tuner on it. It is amazing that people like these exist.

Note: this is for the original PSP and not the PSP Slim.

Furthermore, for those that do not own one yet, the new PSP Slim is now available in Europe.

The Nintendo Wii brings people together

If you haven’t heard yet…Nintendo Wii sales have passed the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony Playstation 3 (here). Passing the Xbox in sales is actually amazing, since the Wii was released a whole year after. With the competitors having more processing power, better graphics, and powerful branding, how has the Wii ended up doing so well?

The Wii simply brings people together!

The Nintendo Wii console is focused on remarkable usability and fun. Its games are not as graphically advanced as the others, but allow a child, adult and senior to play and compete with one another. The literal hands on approach requires you to do more than just push buttons. In a tennis match, you must move toward the ball and swing; when bowling, the speed of the throw is determined by your effort; while boxing, you must guard and swing in order to survive. Since the games require further physical interaction from its players, the involvement and enjoyment are enhanced.

So how does it bring people together?

The games are simply more fun with more players – the movements, the actions, the competition is heightened. In addition, different people are now playing: couples, families, and seniors. I actually read that the Nintendo Wii is highly enjoyed by the senior community as well as others (here). The enhanced interaction of the games makes it so enjoyable for anyone picking up the Wiimote. Furthermore, this abundance of new players is also bringing strangers together. Some examples are: Wiimbledon, cruise ships adding it for entertainment (here), Wii Fight Clubs, and this great Wii commercial below. Seems Nintendo has done something right.

Go Green With USBCell Rechargeable Batteries

Are the days of recharging our batteries via a regular charger about to come to an end? Can you imagine yourself reading this post and on the very same time charging your AA batteries on your laptop or desktop computer?

With time passing by so is technology advancing. Moixa Energy Ltd. has developed the USBCELL battery which is a revolutionary technology that allows recharging the batteries simply by plugging them into a USB port. Their NiMH AA cell battery can be used like any normal battery that is available at the stores.

According to the company, there are over 15 billion alkaline batteries made and thrown away each year, the outcome of that is wasted resources, carbon dioxide (C02) and toxic landfill. The USBCELL offers an eco-friendly alternative – since no charger adapter or cable is needed, their batteries can be reused hundreds of times.

The average price of two USBCELL Batteries stands at $23. Within Moxia’s future product pipeline are: further formats, fashion batteries in designer colors, advanced cells and USBCELL for phones, cameras and other devices.

Create a Zune folder for easy drag and drop

Here is a nice little hack for Microsoft Zune fans. This hack shows you how to create a Zune folder straight in the file browser, which allows easy drag and drop of media. Besides the mobility it allows for building and loading your library, this could help restore music and videos in case of a major computer crash. In addition, this makes the Zune become a really convenient external hard drive.

The video tutorial below shows a step by step how to get this done.

Please let us know how it went for you.

A deathmatch starring iPhone versus blender

In my previous post on Apple’s new toy, IPhone surviving the ultimate scratch and crash test, I included a video by PC World where the phone’s resistance was tested under extreme usage conditions. Following the publication, I received a feedback from Bob, one of our dear readers, saying he had fun watching the video yet would only buy the iPhone if he saw a dead blender next to it. Well Bob, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I have found a new video on Youtube showing the test you were looking for. The bad news is that I can’t promise a positive outcome. All I can say is that I do not recommend trying this stuff at home.

Check out the deathmatch and enjoy.

How To Hack a 6 Volt Lantern Battery!

Update: Based on user’s feedback, we noticed that the 6V battery hack (with video below) is a hoax. The 12 V battery hack with the link below is possible though. Please accept our apologies.

We previously posted a video that showed how to turn a 12v battery into eight small 1.5v to power up small electronics (here).

Today’s cool video shows quickly how to hack a 6 volt lantern battery to 32 AA sized ones. Since AA batteries are so popular, this simple trick can easily help you save hundreds of dollars a year. The reason is that the approximate price of a 6v lantern battery is only $5.

There is an additional video on Youtube demonstrating that this may not work with every lantern battery (here).

If you know how to determine which batteries the video below is for, please let everyone know within the comments.

Enjoy the video!

Make your very own iPod dock

There are so many different portable electronics that we use, such as: an iPod, PSP, PDA, cell phone, etc. They all have different docks, cases, and additional accessories available, and these could get really expensive. Now you can easily make your very own iPod dock…inexpensively. One of the following two ways even costs less that a dollar.

Many innovators began creating cool looking charging docks using Legos. If you have some Lego building blocks lying around the house and would like a colorful dock, you can find the directions for the original iPod Nano dock at Instructables (here).

The other method is just as simple. Besides the gadget and cable, the only items required for this project are a binder clip and a rubber band (both together amounting to less than a buck). The descriptive and visual instructions are also provided through Instructables (here). I must admit that this actual dock doesn’t seem too sturdy, but based on comments it seems strong enough for iPods and other small portables. It would probably not be suggested for items that are really heavy. This is why gadgets such as iPods or cell phones are ideal.

If you end up building an iPod dock using one of these methods (or others), please email us the pictures.
