Sony has announced the successor of the PS3 after the longest console cycle in recent history, called simply PlayStation 4.
Sony had a PlayStation event today, February 20th, which they used to announce the newest member of the PlayStation family, the PS4. The PS4 doesn’t have a price point yet, and it’s release date is around the “holidays 2013”, of which we can’t say much, but Sony also took the opportunity to talk about some of the consoles’ features such as game streaming, share functions and connectivity, as well as specs and the new controller, an evolution of the DualShock called DualShock 4.
We’ll have a more in-depth review later tonight, but so far the announced games seem to be a bunch of new franchises and sequels, including WATCH_DOGS, Killzone, Infamous, Knack, the Witness, Destiny, and (surprise, surprise) Diablo 3, which will also get a PS3 version.
