Zoë Williams was born and raised in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina, in 2005. The devastation she experienced during hurricane Katrina contributes to her work as she explores the delicacy and tranquility of animals through needle felting.

If you are looking at that rhino head and thinking “that doesn’t look terribly impressive” then you do not know what is involved in needle felting. Needle felting is the process of stabbing wool with a barbed needle (sounds fun, doesn’t it?) over and over and over again until the wool begins to intertwine with its own fibers. This will create a 3D model that will hold its shape on its own. This process can take hours and thousands of stabs for the smallest of felted wool.
